As the PS5 launched in India this month, IGN India exclusively reported that Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War was the best-selling game on the console. Multiple game stores across the country confirmed that the PS5 version of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has been the biggest seller despite its high retail price (ranging from Rs. 5,200 to Rs. 5,500 depending from store to store) and the game not being made officially available either.
That said, Activision is aware of the franchise’s popularity stating that it’s thankful for Call of Duty’s India player base.
A spokesperson for Activision told IGN India, "We are grateful to have an avid and growing community of Call of Duty players in India through Black Ops Cold War and our free-to-play games, Warzone and Call of Duty Mobile." We remain committed to making our games open to all.
Both Cold War and Warzone are currently available for digital download on console platform stores and via Battlenet for PC.”
It's unusual for the organization to tell a thing about most areas that are not the United States or Europe. The fact that it takes the Indian market seriously enough to make a statement indicates that we will see Activision's more focused effort to improve its position in India.
Even right now, sales for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War continue to stay strong. Stores are unable to keep up with the demand for the disc versions of the game on PS5 and Xbox Series X.
For what it’s worth, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is discounted right now digitally on select platforms. On PC the game is 25 percent off, making it $45 (around Rs. 3,277) via Activision’s Battle.net service. And if you play on Xbox Series X|S, the game is Rs. 3,800 instead of the usual Rs. 4,750 while the Xbox One version is Rs. 2,999.25 rather than the standard Rs. 3,999 price.
