Reuters, LONDON

Sharon Peacock, director of the Covid-19 Genomics UK consortium, said that the Kent variant has "swept the country" and "it's going to sweep the world, in all probability,"

The coronavirus variant first identified in the Kent area of Britain is likely to sweep across the world and the war against the virus will continue for at least a decade, the head of the genetic surveillance program in the United Kingdom said.

Sharon Peacock, director of the Covid-19 Genomics UK consortium, told the BBC, "swept the country"swept the country"it's going to sweep the world, in all probability, "it's going to sweep the world, in all probability.

When we get on top of [the virus] or it mutates out of being virulent, so we can stop thinking about it, causing disease. But I think we're going to be doing it for years, looking into the future.
