159/9 IN 20 overs 160/8 IN 20 overs

A closely contested fight between the two heavyweights of IPL and we saw RCB clinching it in the last ball of the game.

TOSS :- RCB won the toss and elected to bowl first. Kohli after losing 12 tosses in the England series finally broke the jinx in the opening thriller of the IPL. Slow and turner pitch so is easier to chase.

1ST INNINGS:- MI opened with their veterans Rohit Sharma and Chris lynn who joined the team in absence of de kock. They provided a slow start and lynn wasn't able to time the ball at the beginning. But later on, he showed his class and missed half-century by just 1 run and his innings was decorated with 4 fours and 3 sixes. Rohit's out was a bit unlucky as it was a wrong ball from the striking end. In the middle overs both Surya Kumar (31) and Ishan (28) pulled back things into Mi's favour but a brilliant performance from harshal patel at the death. He took 5 wickets and put the entire control on rcb's side. The inconsistency of Hardik, pollard and krunal hurt them a lot as the team couldn't score above 159.

2nd innings:- Washington Sundar and our every green king Kohli came to bat. They also provided a slow start but they could afford that as the reqd RR was always just above 8. Washi went for a cheap 10 off 16. King Kohli was set well into his crease but a brilliant delivery from boom boom bumrah got him out on 33 (29). Debutant Rajat Patidar felt to impress us well. But then came the most decorated t20 batsman in our era. Glenn Maxwell and AB de Villiers. Glenn tho very inconsistent stood up today and decorated his innings with 3 fours and 2 massive sixes where one was off 100m. ABD as always Mr. 360 showed his class and saved the match which was once slipping from RCB's hand. Tight bowling from Marco Jensen another debutant and bumrah almost took it away from RCB but ABD had other thoughts . Tho ABD got out at the last moment harshal was enough to score the winning runs for RCB.

Key player:- Harshal Patel was clearly the MOM after clinching his first 5 wicket haul in IPL. Nobody predicted him in the first lineup, came as a surprise element and delivered the most.

Conclusion:- RCB won the first match in IPL 2021 . But will they can break their jink of 13 years of not getting the IPL trophy?
