OnePlus Nord 2 may be the first phone of the business without a Qualcomm chipset.
OnePlus Nord 2 — or what can be called the successor to OnePlus Nord, or one-plus Nord — is under construction and is due to begin in the second quarter of 2021. A new OnePlus Nord phone with MediaTek Dimension 1200 SoC is being rumored. It's different from the original OnePlus Nord and all previous ones with the Snapdragon processors from Qualcomm. OnePlus Nord 2 is the fourth variant in the Nord series that includes onePlus Nord, OnePlus Nord N10 5G, and OnePlus Nord N100 if it is officially launched.
Android Central quoted people aware of the progress and announced OnePlus Nord's 29,9992 launch plans. MediaTek 1200 SoC is reputed to have upgraded considerably in the hardware on the latest OnePlus Nord phone over Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G, the original OnePlus Nord.
As their new 5G supporting chipset, MediaTek unveiled Dimensity 1200 SoC in January. It comes with a maximum clock speed of 3GHz with eight treatment centers, one ultra-core of ARM Cortex A77. The ARM Mali G77 MC9 GPU chipset also contains nine cores and supports up to 16GB LPDDR4x RAM. Additionally, UFS 3.1 storage is supported.
The fourth model of the Nord business line-up will be OnePlus Nord 2.
OnePlus has reliant on Snapdragon SoCs from Qualcomm so far.
In October last year OnePlus extended its Nord series.
OnePlus sibling Realme, who also belongs to BBK Electronics, was appointed as the first smartphone producer with MediaTek Dimension 1200 SoC to introduce a flagship model. The model will be part of the rumored series Realme X9.
However, it seems odd that OnePlus's move on MediaTek Dimension 1200 is due to the fact that since it was founded in December 2013, Qualcomm has used Snapdragon chips on its smartphones.
After some expectations and a series of teasers, OnePlus brought the original Nord smartphone in July 2020. This model was particularly launched in India and Europe and ran up against the Samsung Galaxy M31s and Google Pixel 4a.
OnePlus extended the Nord series in October with the launch of the U.S. market OnePlus Nord N10 5G and OnePlus Nord N100.
OnePlus Nord 2 and OnePlus for the work on OnePlus Nord SE have been published. It could include 65W quick charging and an AMOLED monitor. The OnePlus Nord SE will debut in the first quarter, making space for the OnePlus Nord 2.
