The Pixel 5a from Google will succeed this year in Pixel 4a. Whereas the launch is scheduled for this year, now that we know what to expect of the affordable Google Pixel smartphone this year, it's worth settling our expectations.
First, almost five years ago Google introduced the Pixel Series. A long way from the former Nexus Series, the premium items for the flagship iPhone and Samsung's first-genre Pixel and Pixel XL were featured. As its name implies, the Pixel series is intended to provide superior smartphone photography, primarily accomplished by means of machine learning algorithms to enhance images. But Google has struggled to ensure profitability in the smartphone industry without any characteristic attribute or a credible history of making trendy smartphones.
After the underwhelming response to the Pixel 3 series, Google decided to launch an affordable Pixel that offered the same camera prowess but without many other premium features like an IP rating, wireless charging, glass design, etc. This decision increased Google’s smartphone sales two-fold and affirmed a spot for the A series in Google’s hardware portfolio.
The next year, the pixels 3a and 3a XL were replaced by the pixels 4a and 4a 5G. In 2021 we expect Google to launch the Pixel 5a, and we know and expect everything from the smartphone here.

Expected Release Date-
At Google I/O Developer Conference 2019 in May this year, Google Pixel 3a was launched and Pixel 4a was anticipated to be launched by 2020 at the same time. However, the COVID-19 pandemic hit the ground and caused a physical Google I/O case to be cancelled. The pandemic also disrupted the regular product launch timetable and in August 2020 instead of May the Pixel 4a was launched. Google later unveiled the Pixel 4a 5G alongside the more premium Google Pixel 5 at an online event in October.
We expect Google to announce Pixel 5a around August 2021 based on last year's launch timeline. This mostly looks at how Google generally doesn't precipitate the start of its hardware.
We still have no leak or official Google announcement on the publication, but we will update this section as soon as possible.
Google introduced Pixel 3a in two sizes for the first generation of affordable Pixel cameras. The Google Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL had the same requirements — except for monitor sizes — despite their different dimensions. The business was powered by the regular two separate Pixel 4a devices with a
4G version and a 5G variant. The Pixel 4a and the Pixel 4a 5G vanilla had different rear camera settings, aside from running on many internal chipsets, despite the same camera bumps.
Only one camera, i.e. 12MP camera, was included in the regular Pixel 4a which Google used since pixels 2. On the other side, the Pixel 4a 5G had a dual rear camera configuration, consisting of a regular 12MP camera, like the other pixel devices, and an ultra-wide 16MP camera, as was Pixel 5.
Notably, although two devices were included in the Pixel 4a banner, a single version was present for Pixel 5. If 5G became more popular in 2021, it would be deceiving to release just a 4G model from Google's Pixel 5a. Both Qualcomm and MediaTek already have 5G networking entry-level chipsets, so we expect (hoping) Google to use one of them.
The improvements we saw in the affordable pixel lineup were mentioned earlier. Onleaks aka Steve Hemmerstoffer is said to use the same camera as Pixel 4a 5G and Pixe 5, according to a recent leak from the experienced leaker. Indeed, the design has not been made visibly because Google seems to recycle for pixel 5a the same design.
The pixel 5a is 2.3 mm long, 0.8 mm thicker and 0.6 mm wider than the pixel 4a 5G onLeaks. OnLeaks notes Pixel 5a is allegedly 156.2 x 73.2 x 8.8mm in dimensions (9.4mm thick including the camera bump).
The increase in the length seems to be due to the bump, which in the leaked devices appears to be slightly wider.
The Pixel 5a is inherited by a Pixel 4a 5G 6.2-inch OLED display, amid these minutes of changes in dimensions. It is predicted that the monitor will have a Full HD+ resolution and a hole punch cut in the right corner like the Pixel 4a 5G. The leaker doesn't mention this, but we hope that the 90 Hz refresh rate on the Google Pixel 5a is a 60 Hz updating on the Pixel 4a and Pixel 4a 5G monitor. This is a simple, uncurved display, like the previous equipment.
Despite using an OLED panel, Google seems interested in sticking to a capacitive scanner on the back of the phone rather than switching to the fingerprint technology that is below-display. There will be no improvement in the volume rockers and the color-focused control button.
Fortunately, the Pixel 5a is proposed to maintain the 3.5-mm headphone port, even after almost 3 years of Google's withdrawal. The configuration of the stereo speakers is also intact.
The Pixel 5a was proposed to have a dual back camera configuration - the first for the affordable pixel range. As stated previously. This involves a 12MP camera and a 16MP camera with a very large angle. These cameras are presumably unchanged from what we saw on pixels 4a 5G and 5.
However, along with probably some exclusive features, we should expect generational upgrades in image processing. Like the Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5, on the horizontal line along the middle of the square cameras bump are placed two camera sensors on a pixel 5a. Another sensor underneath these cameras may be a PDAF sensor or a flicking sensor, like the leaked sensors.
Once again, the selfie camera is inside the punch cut in the show. Although the leak did not disclose the resolution of this camera, Google traditionally used 8MP cameras, and it worked perfectly. The same can be predicted for the Pixel 5a.
In certain markets like India, the Pixel 3a was started at 399 US Dollars while being more costly. The Pixel 3a was not a bad investment but had poor performance for this amazing camera. By reducing the price to $349, Google made the 4a more accessible and attractive. The 4a 5G pixel, which has a higher Snapdragon 765G chipset of 5G capability, was priced at 499 dollars.
Although there's no information yet on the price of Pixel 5a, it's not surprising to see that it's between $450 and $550.
We shall continue to update this article in more detail until the official launch of Pixel 5a, as we learn about it in the following months.
