In Tajikistan on Friday, a strong earthquake of magnitude 6.3 hits with tremors felt throughout North India and Delhi, causing residents to run out of their homes.

The epicenter of the earthquake was in Tajikistan, about 450 km from Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir, according to the National Seismology Centre of India.

At 10:31 pm IST, the earthquake struck at a distance of 74 km from the surface.

In Delhi and nearby areas for few seconds, powerful tremors were felt.
